Healing Trolley Square
A benefit CD for the victims

On February 12th, 2007
an 18-year old gunman walked into Trolley Square Mall in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah and began randomly shooting patrons. In the end, five individuals were killed; four more were wounded. But the damage done by this tragedy does not end there. Thousands were affected, ranging from heart-broken family members to simple citizens.
Associated monetary costs have been high – one survivor's medical expenses during February alone exceeded $100,000. In a commendable effort, the community has responded by raising just over $50,000 to assist families with these expenses. However, a group of LDS musicians believes that more can be done.

Eleven artists, including Jon Schmidt, Michael Dowdle, and Sam Cardon, have banded together in an effort entitled Healing Trolley Square. Each has contributed of their music and time toward the production of a benefit CD to be sold through Deseret Book and FYE music stores. All sales proceeds will be donated to the Trolley Square Victim's Fund to benefit the families of the victims. Their goal?$1,000,000.

The purpose is to provide $1,000,000 to the victims.

“After losing a sister and then a brother years ago, the unforgettable silver lining was the remarkable kindness of so many to our family.   I hope this project will be somewhat of a silver lining to to the families of the victims.”

- Jon Schmidt
